U.S. Ski & Snowboard Member Services Knowledge Base

Can I use other SafeSport training required by other organizations?

Each entity has its own requirements. For example, U.S. Ski & Snowboard requires our own background screening due to a specific set of criteria applied to all coaches, officials and club volunteer members which is modeled after the USOC’s criteria. It’s unlikely that screening would be accepted in the academic setting.

Similarly, the U.S. Center for SafeSport must ensure the content of training is applicable to the sport environment and consistent across all sports under the Olympic umbrella. The course specifically provides information about the SafeSport Code and reporting requirements required under S. 534, which also requires reporting sexual misconduct to the Center, in addition to school-based state law mandatory reporting requirements. This covers the federal requirements.
