U.S. Ski & Snowboard Member Services Knowledge Base

I have questions regarding Club Insurance and COI Information, where can I find this?

When you join U.S. Ski & Snowboard as a member club, U.S. Ski & Snowboard provides liability insurance for those events which you choose to hold and which are conducted pursuant to a U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanction agreement. If and when a sanction agreement is executed, you are of course entitled to receive a cert of insurance indicating coverage for that event.  We routinely issue those as ski resorts generally request them from event organizers.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard also requests that those clubs who join U.S. Ski & Snowboard, should they choose not to (or are ineligible to) receive U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s club insurance, provide evidence of insurance and add U.S. Ski & Snowboard as an additional insured on their policy to protect U.S. Ski & Snowboard from losses arising from non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned club activities.  We are concerned that should a club’s non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned activities result in a claim that the club will be identified as a U.S. Ski & Snowboard member club and U.S. Ski & Snowboard would be targeted in a lawsuit regardless of whether U.S. Ski & Snowboard actually had anything to do with the activities, which resulted in a claim. If U.S. Ski & Snowboard is added as an additional insured to your policy for those types of claims, the process of having the appropriate insurer defend a claim is greatly streamlined, costs are reduced, etc.

Providing this evidence of coverage is within your insurer’s purview and should result in no additive cost to your club.  If and when you execute a sanction event this season we will be happy to provide a cert of insurance covering the club during the event.
